What is the cheepest and fastest way to get a replacement I-20 ??
My friend lost his I-20 form and he needs it replaced to get a drivers licence in New York State. He said he could get one through his college that he is currently enrolled however, he is behind in tuition payments $3K, and he fears that the school will not be open to doing him any favors. Are there any other agencies or government offices that can get this document replaced? Quick and cheep?
A-Best: No.
The only places that issue the Form I-20 are learning institutions. If he wants a replacement then the only place he can get that from is from the college that he is studying at.
And I would advise your friend that if he cannot keep up the payments on his tuition then he will lose his visa status in the U.S. and will be deported, where he will still have to pay the cost of his tutition in full.
